While pregnancy can be considered one of life’s greatest adventures, it can also be accompanied by various aches and pains that can be more than bothersome. The good news is chiropractic adjustments are a safe, gentle way to support your body during pregnancy.
How does chiropractic care help? Ensuring your spine and pelvis are properly aligned helps with breech presentations and can relieve lower back pain, nausea, and morning sickness, improve balance, reduce labor time, and more.
The Webster Technique & How It Works
Dr. Shire specializes in the Webster Technique, a chiropractic method focused on aligning the sacrum and pelvis during pregnancy. This technique helps create an optimal environment for babies to turn naturally, particularly those in a breech position. With over 20 years of experience and ICPA certification, Dr. Shire has the expertise that helps moms-to-be know they’re in highly capable hands.
It’s important to note that the Webster Technique doesn’t directly turn the baby but addresses misalignments in the spine and pelvis. Reducing tension and creating more space improves the baby’s chances of naturally moving into the correct position. Some babies turn after one adjustment, while others may need multiple visits or may not turn at all.
A Memorable Success Story
Recently, we had a first-time mother come to our practice at 37 weeks pregnant, feeling anxious about her breech baby. “We analyzed her and found subluxation down in her sacrum area. I adjusted her one time, and the next day, or the next couple of days, she went to get checked by her OB, and it was determined that the baby had found their way head down. She’s not only tremendously relieved and thankful but can now focus on having a nice, natural childbirth,” said Dr. Shire.
